Flying Lotus: Tiny Tortures [VIDEO]

Just notice a tweet from a fellow rider. New video from Flying Lotus for Tiny Tortures off the acclaimed Until The Quiet Comes LP. The visuals feature Elijah Wood - yes, that dude form the movie. Watch the clip of a former athlete, baseball star and Flylo fan, turned amputee has this pill induced delirium of some sort... tune in.

enjoy.

STRANGELOOP: the STRANGE ATTRACTOR mini-mix

In all this Layer 3 talk, ppl may have forgotten that Dr Strangeloop gets heavy on the beats. In fact, I used keep a few Dr Strangeloop bangers on rotation. A few weeks ago, he put up this mini mix of unreleased bangers, and complete reflection of dudes visual works...

tracks :

1. TIME OUT
2. STRANGE ATTRACTOR
3. LOVE ALL DAY
4. TRILOBYTES
5. MESHES IN THE AFTERNOON

Here's hoping that we get releases from him soon.

Enjoy.

The Reflektor: Las Ruinas Mayas EP

Coming from Detroit's own Wild Oats camp, a new one from the consummate pro Gifted & Blessed is The Reflektor: Las Ruinas Mayas EP. The EP is full evidence of GB's mastery of analog electronics - as always.

Jesse Boykins III & MeLo-X: Black Orpheus [VIDEO]

With Zulu Guru out, Jesse Boykins III & MeLo-X have been making the rounds w/ new music. One of my faves now to video, some of you might find this track to sound familiar - as it should (gawd bless this dude), and the added JB3 vocals just hit the spot: Black Orpheus.

Zulu Guru is out now. Go scoop it up.

Captain Murphy: Duality (Deluxe Edition) [DWNLD]

Captain Murphy has seemingly been unmasked, revealing his true super hero identity last night @ Low End in Los Angeles.
In celebration, Duality was re released in a deluxe version w/ instrumentals. That was fun whilst it lasted. ;)

Rinse FM welcomes Lucky Me

Looks like Lucky Me has joined the Rinse FM ranks. Say wrd. They are the latest to have proven their mettle in the music landscape with a banner year in 2012 and no sign of slowing down in site.

The 1st show will be Dec 6th 2012. Stay tune for times, but more importantly - lock in.

Shapeshifter: Diamond Trade (Mono Poly Remix)

Your man Mono/Poly got that gift of melody. I wish there was more music to own but my dude got me in queue for that next record. And this remix he posted yesterday is more proof of my man's genius. Remixing a single for NZ band Shapfisters, he takes this stadium, sports anthem track to this dark knight, call of duty black ops, war drums beating riddim. I wish this was available, but I'll settle with this stream for now. Wow.

** update Dec 21 2013 **

In a tweet i just read, this is a free download now. Enjoy.

Flying Lotus Film [VIDEO]

I watched this as the email came in from Dazed Digital. A Flying Lotus edit of his work ethic, which has now pretty much turned out to be one of the best in the game. Be it working on music, or conceptualizing direction or even creating the now infamous Layer 3, here's a little something from your man. I love these. Enjoy. [via]

Nosaj Thing: Eclipse/Blue [VIDEO]

This has been the hush project from Innovative Leisure and Nosaj Thing. I mean, the single Eclipse/Blue has been buzzing, so I guess this the unveiling despite this operation Gold/Stopwatch.
This is Nosaj's graduation from artist, to artiste, incorporating something that's a cross between cavalcade of lights and la la la human steps. The result is tight either way. Jan 22nd is the date for the new LP Home. I'm here.

Black Atlass: Castles (Ryan Hemsworth Remix) [DL]

I like Black Atlass. Still recall being told to hold back on the blog post since the music needed to be re mastered and mixed. All good. I still listened on loop to his debut THE BLACK ATLASS EP, poor mix and all. Well, keeping it all in family, a remix to Castles has emerged from within the camp: Ryan Hemsworth has given it a spit polish, for a whole new feel to the track, and as a free download. [via]

You can still download the EP here [zip] .

Stay tuned. Enjoy.

Jolin Ras: Youthful Reflection

Something my man Jolin Ras sent me just a few ago. Based out of Vancouver, Jolin Ras put this together over a few months span, recalling his young years growing up: from travels, to toe flips, to frontside heelflip, to free throws. All these experiences were tapped in creating this Youth Reflection LP. Though I have known Jolin Ras to flip smooth R&B years ago, this has been a touch more on the electronic, steady cadence, hi hat and triplets abound. Shant Shaker & Shallow Winds are two of my faves.

The Youth Reflection LP is up and available at his bandcamp.

Gaslamp Killer: Seven Years of Bad Luck for Fun (ft. Dimlite)

The Gaslamp Killer featuring the revered Dimlite. The GLK lp Breakthrough is one I dug a lot, and this idiosyncratic clip Seven Years of Bad Luck for Fun (ft. Dimlite) is all that is The Gaslamp Killer: eccentric, unconventional, wacky, wingy...

Here's to looking fwd to more clips, but the Breakthrough is out now. Go.

Enjoy.

Jeedo: Hood Tech [DWNLD]

Waajeed continues to introduce the sound of DIRT TECH RECK to the world. His new sound and philosophy. Much of that new new that hew unleashed on the Benji B show just a few weeks past.
Just moments ago, he offered this minimal banger of a popping melody, those legendary Jeedo drums, and female vocal phrased sampled throughout the joint. Ok.

Enjoy the download and stay tuned for more DIRT TECH RECK, and make is sure you lock into that show he did w/ Benji. It's hella nice.

Karriem Riggins: Summer Madness [VIDEO]

You need more Karriem Riggins in your live. Period. No one could be happier than I to be seeing more Riggins in the press. It's been way too long and this is w/o a doubt something that has been in the making, and he's finally here. Stones Throw is finally ready to see this through.

Here's little clip that just dropped w/ Karriem Riggins' Summer Madness SA of Alone/Together, and a little bonus clip at the end to boot of Matador!

Enjoy.

Captain Murphy: Duality [DWNLD]

Been spinning this out for a few and the beats and rhymes are kinda tight. + these rumours are largely exaggerated. Or are they?? Either way, this Captain Murphy project is here and is on it's way, off and running. You can either watch the 35 min clip of the mixtape, or actually stream/download it.

Little Dragon: Sunshine (Shlohmo rmx)

This past May, Shlohmoh mentioned in our sit down in Montreal that he had been working on some secret production for someone pretty big - or @ least, a major coup in his books.
Yukimi and the Little Dragon crew were the latest to enlist for that Shlohmo sound, but I swore to keep it to myself. Well, I guess the rework of Sunshine wasn't approved so, he released the kraken!

This was a 100 piece download, so you may or amy not see it floating around. Good luck.

Enjoy.

J-Zen: Padwork [DWNLD]

Frenchman J-Zen is cut from that classic cloth, and I've been all in of late. I find myself entertaining my penchant for that sample/chop, kicks and snare sound all over again. Maybe it's just a nostalgic phase i'm right now, but it's all love right now.
Programmed as a classic beat tape. we have Padworks.

Just like it was meant to be: Padworks is just that. J-Zen offers an LP cut from banging away on that MP. Plain and simple.

This is avail as a name your own price so go show some love on J-Zen's bandcamp.

Enjoy.

Teebs: Bleep

Something that Teebs snuck out right as he left for an Australian tour. If you're lucky enough, you know one of the 100 ppl who caught the download. ;)
Keep your eyes and ears peeled. Both he and Prefuse 73 are in AUS together. Can we expect some Sons Of The Morning works? Hope so.

fLako: Mating Dance [DWNLD]

He might have hit this one on the head. fLako's rise has been nothing short of stellar. The releases have been solid, sounds sorcerous with the silken voice streaming from speakers... So nice.

Kone: O'Death [DWNLD]

When Kone is not art directing, and running the show on photo shoots, he's still grinding away at the beats, out in sunny So Cal. It's been a min since he last dropped his LP from Alpha Pup, but he's staying busy with shows and of course, tracks. Honouring Dia De Los Muertos, he let this one loose for the listeners.

Enjoy, and show love.

Chesca Ches: KEW GREEN

I've always been digging Chesca Ches' work. The Royalty stuff is bananas in my books. She slid this botanical one out there, potentially unfinished work, but cool nonetheless.

Angel Haze w/ Lunice: Gimme That

Something I saw from Lucky Me's feed. I read about Angel Haze whilst messing about looking for news, and came across a CMJ write up and vid. Well, she was apparently in LDN recently and got down w/ Lunice. Ok. I'm torn on a girl who looks like Aaliyah, but got that tough talk. Kinda reminds me of B.O.S.S. (only a very select few of you will know that one off the top). We'll see. Lunice came with the drama on this one.

Comfort Fit Live Set [VIDEO]

I've long been a fan of Comfort Fit's music. For anyone who peeped some of my earliest sets, I played many of his + still think that his Tea Leaf Dancer rmx is awesome.
I had seen some of his live shows in the past, working two MPDs in his sets. But as many have realized, Native Instrument's new line of products including Maschine have made some great in roads and are making things very interesting.
Witness this 30 some minute live set from Comfort Fit using an assortment of Maschine units and F1s.Very impressive. Get inspired.

In another email surprise from Jellyfish Recordings.
This AstroLogical ep dropped a few days ago, and I streamed it most of the night. Nice piece of work. Sample chops like they were meant to be done, kicks, snares. Just a nice smooth piece of work. Scoop it, and enjoy liberally.

DJ Nobody: Rex b/w Swagnostic [DWNLD]

Coming out of the Low End Theory army is DJ Nobody with a new single from the Alpha Pup camp.
Rex b/w Swagnostic will be released tomorrow to adoring fans of not only the legendary night that is Low End Theory, but also to the now thousands of new fans of trap. Now, if you follow Nobody on twitter, he's not hid behind the fact that he's gone all in with the trap tempo and riddim. The tweets have been actually funny...

So with a loaded clip, and extra long magazine, Nobody surfaces with 2 new tracks. Rex features the tempo, dramatic horns, and as someone added, a psych twist all w/o the formulaic 1/32, 1/64 hi hat triplets that have become the de facto sound.

Rex b/w Swagnostic is in stores tomorrow, iTunes should be the spot. Enjoy.

Potatohead People, a bi coastal outfit of Nick Wisdom & AstroLogical are releasing another recording, the Kosmichemusik EP which features signature smooth sound of synth and jazzy swing. Complementing the who record will be the undeniable flow of one Moka Only, with additional rhymes from Detroit's Frank Nitty and Claire Mortifee.

Skream feat Kelis

So, this had been discussed somewhere on Twitter if I recall. Skream feat Kelis: Copy Cat. But just saw a tweet from Rinse FM just a few moments ago. And I STILL LOVE KELIS - even though I feel she did my man something dirty.

Not blowing me away on the 1st listen, but I feel like Kelis riddims grew on me w/ time. This is prime for some remixing however. I can hear it already.

So this is looking like December? Got it.
