Always nice to hear from the tireless Kutmah. Fully settled now in the UK, he's released another well mixed and themed mix for the good ppl over at Fact Mag. I'm listening to it right now, and you can to.
Head over to the Fact Mag site to scoop your copy of the 80+ min mix of lovely breaks.
We have a pile of Kutmah mixes streaming and up for download here as well.
Oh boy. This is almost too much to handle in one track. Serious. Jesse Boykins 3rd, Melo-X and Afta 1?? A track oozing with that soul that's been missing in 2012, Black Orpheus is the lead off for Zulu Guru LP due Oct 15th 2012 from Ninja Tune. Wow. Ninja Tune. Ok.
Some of you Afta1 connoisseurs might know this track but all love. JB3 and Melo-X share duties w/ vocals, and it's all lovely in the end. Scoop this track, and enjoy.

Releases today via ScionAV, the LP titled BOOM. Some of you might recall the piece we did on ladies behind the boards, and AM was certainly included in this series.
Seen and heard mostly on comps here and there, there's some refreshment in hearing beats/experimental with some vocals tied to them. You can stream BOOM here below and download it as well.
Do watch the interview as well when you get the chance. Hit the site for that as well.

A festival I need to check at some point soon, Belgium's 10 Days Off is in it's last day today in fact, but has hosted a number of cats in the last, 10 days. ;)
One of them was Teebs, certainly one of my faves out there for a number of reasons you can get out of me next time we chat.
Here's his live set from 10 Days Off, as recorded and downloadable.

A nice little gem was just released, a sort of smooth posse cut featuring your man Black Spade (of Hawthorne Headhunters fame) on lead hook and spitting duty, along side Fresh Daily and Moruf, all over a tight Knxwledge reworked loop which originally saw light on an earlier record, Skrawberries.
Knxwledge & Black Spade, Fresh Daily, Moruf.
Ann Arbor's Shigeto - who has recently relocated to Detroit I believe - has just released last weak a remix 12" for the Huron River Drive single from Lineage EP.

What is hip hop? In 2012, there has been some debate. Even within the US shores, they have been seemingly warping and redefining what they believe is hip hop, and ironically, getting inspired by UK sounds. With that being said, there's no wonder that producers like SertOne have been getting some buzz. I 1st reported about SertOne, the youngest in charge, some time back after a chance email, and have kept on eye on him since.
He's now releasing Shapes In The Sky from Melted Music, and this will in fact show growth and maturity in sound. This 4 track ep will showcase the deft production that 1st got our attention like in Further Down (From Here to There), but also the daring direction into the world of vocalists and non conformist song structure like in the 7 min Breath (ft. Young Wonder).
Further Down (From Here to There)
Breath (ft. Young Wonder)
The Shapes In The Sky EP will be available July 16th 2012. You can scoop a copy over at his bandcamp site, and more info over at Melted Music.

Moogy Foog It
Look for more bits of this record to be played during out Stones Throw night in Toronto, featuring JONWAYNE.
Some of you might have tuned in to some of the recent Boiler Room sets live from LA. Pretty interesting. But the lineups have of course been prestigious.
Samiyam actually did one of them and the set has not been release for all to relive, all hosted by your man Gaslamp Killer. Of course, some exclusives in the mix in there.
Samiyam. Boiler Room 002.

Yamaha is introducing a very solid looking app Synth Arp & Drum Pad as you have the years of pedigree, engineering and experience from the celebrated music manufacturer.
Here are some of the deets right from the Yamaha site:
- Choose from 61 high-quality voices from a variety of instruments including 7 drum kits.
- Cutoff, resonance, attack, release, and portamento can be adjusted with the knob control. Setting tonal qualities is easy.
- Choose from 342 arpeggio patterns from a variety of instruments.
- Control the swing, note length, octave range, and other characteristics for each arpeggio phrase in real time.
- Select and change the scale being played. That allows you to use Touch Control Function and you can modify the sound by sliding your finger vertically or vibrating your finger horizontally on the keyboard.
- The velocity can be changed depending by adjusting the strength of the tap on the iPad screen, or use the ribbon controller displayed on the left-hand side of the screen.
- For each of the 16 drum pads, you can assign 5 notes at a specific velocity which allows you to play chords with one finger as well as multiple percussion instruments.
- You can also use the built-in step sequencer of each pad, to easily create a rhythm track.
- The Learn function can be used to easily assign a chord to a pad using the keyboard displayed at the bottom of the screen or using the keyboard of an external MIDI device.
- There are 64 user templates that can be customized and saved.
- Overdubbing enables the blending of various layers of sound in one recording.
- In addition to standard recording, you can also record loops of varying lengths.
The best part is that this pretty thorough app is 50% off, or $3.99 until July 31st 2012. We're talking the price of a drink at the local watering hole - and you don't have to p*ss it back out a few hours later. Certainly something worth considering.
The music was produced and cut right to CD - just raw. The CDs are available at the HVW8 gallery until the end of the show or at tour stops. After that, it will be made available @ My Hollow Drum.
The CD artwork is all hand printed, and limited to 300 copies. Act fast.
Though this reached it's download limit, look for this floating around the interweb or possibly re hosted in places you might know and visit. ;)
Either way, enjoy it. It's a nice one.
Here I man wondering, where I came across this wonderful name, when I suddenly realized two things: I had a conversation with Anenon about him, and also came across the name in a podcast from the wonderful CPR.
Coming from Japan comes a California native Magical Mistakes who now calls Shiga home, and the talented INNIT collective his family.
Released on INNIT's very own Day Tripper label will be Magical Mistakes's With Love single which will feature rmxs from And Vice Versa and Madegg - both members of INNIT.
Only to draw a quick comparison: think Leaving Records and Matthewdavid (who happened to engineer the record). With Love seemingly gallops and moves leisurely as the same (damn) time, carried by the melody of a guitar's silvery strings, as well as a violin played by Argentinian Jake Falby.
With Love (And Vice Versa Remix)
With Love (Madegg Remix)
I actually have no dates for release, but would urge you to follow Magical Mistakes for updates. He is however coming back to US for dates. And they look as follows:
SUMMER US Dates:
July 27th NYC Cameo Gallery with Astronautico and Giraffrage
July 31st BOSTON Middle East Upstairs with Time Wharp, Mutual Benefit, Abadabad
August 2nd NYC Shea Stadium with Mutual Benefit and more
August 3-6 To be announced shortly
August 7th ANN ARBOR with Mutual Benefit and more
August 15/16 SAN DIEGO with Matthew David INFO: to be announced
August 18 LOS ANGELES The Smell with Matthew David and more

Cosmic Bridge is quickly building a pristine catalog of masterful material, mirroring this modus operandi that label leader, and incessant laborer Om Unit has established of very rhythmic releases. The label's take on the footwork / juke has been more palatable then some of the more repetitive material many are more familiar with. But as I have said in the past, Cosmic Bridge has been able to find that 80/160 groove that is so smooth and seemingly natural and painless. Added to the release schedule is EAN and his Darknet EP which has been in my hands for a few now.
If you know the CB sound, you know that 808 drum beat is programmed wonderfully, with the occasional sample stabs. Atmospheric segments, melodious sprites break up the tracks as it did in my fave joint and title track Darknet. We're even treated to a remix from the oracle himself, Om Unit.
5. Flow (Om Unit remix)
Ean's Darknet EP will be out July 9th 2012 digitally and in all fine music emporiums.
Quietly this week the good ppl over at the Red Bull Music Academy have relaunched Red Bull Music Academy Radio, allowing for much more user friendly navigation among the many improvements, as well as a new URL:
The repository of music, interviews, concert archives will remain, as it keeps growing by the week, as they prepare for the hoy grail of events: The RBMA 2012 NYC.
Either way, the new site if HTML5 compliant of course, which means you can confidently peruse it using either your iPad or iPhone. Amazing. So many developers take that for granted. So make your way off to RBMA Radio and click away. For the nostalgic few, the old site will remain up until July 16th.

The Molten Drum App for iPad is on sale for free as of a few days back. Just reminded myself moments ago.
One of the several drum apps available, it does carry some great feature, like the ability to create tuplets for the trap producer in you, among other things. ;)
If you have an iPad, this app is currently free - so go nuts. iOS 4.2 is all you need so late updaters are good to go. Enjoy.
1. FuzzOne aka Dr.Brown - Afterhours (Request Line)
2. 0hbliv - Crystalwave
3. Supa Koopa - SpendTheNotes
4. Haz_Solo - LoveAndLeaveYou
5. Dax Live - Can't See Thru The Fog
6. Esgar - Lets Go
7. Tony Devotion - Wood Grain
8. Changez - M.a.d. M.
9. Uplift - So Many Lies
10. DJ Dstrukt [BEVMO_SJ] - Summer Breezy
Got Om Unit's Aeolian EP pkg this morning, it also included the bonus digital rmxs from Sweatson Klank as well as Reso.
The Ulysses (Different Drum Remix) by Reso is the frenetic side of the dichotomous remix edits, and essentially takes the Ulysses track to a chaotic space, starting deceivingly so smoothly, only to vault into a manic moment of drum madness, to then close out into some classic drum & bass break. Tight.
The Aeolian EP is due out July 30 2012 from Civil Music, and the remix is part of the digital exclusice. Stay tuned.

Something I had bookmarked a few weeks ago and just getting back to now. A comp coming from the ppl at Dead Magazine.
A beat comp featuring some lesser known in the game, but as accomplished, inclding Toronto's Vangel, and KRTS of Project Mooncircle. fame.
It's available in physical and digital form for all to enjoy. The digital is offered as a free download, and double vinyl up for grabs with a tee added to the package. Good deal I'd say.
1. Factor - I'm Only Concerned
2. B. Visible - Ghostblaster
3. 2econd Class Citizen - Outside Your Doorway (Dday One Remix)
4. Ender - Forgotten Your Name
5. Anthony Drawn - Far From Home
6. Andreikelos - Deserted
7. Krts - Blame Me

Outliers, Vol I: Iceland
A collective a film producers and photographers Scenic went off to the Icelandic countryside along w/ producer Deru to create a set of improvised and collaborative a/v works. The result will be released soon but more importantly, there will be a soundtrack, curated by Deru combining electronic producers and contemporary classical composers. The tracklist will feature the following:
Sweatson Klank has posted his track for streaming.

Word is that Dominic Lord has been writing music, and is now manager'ed up, entertainment lawyer'ed up and has just released in video to a track w/ Hudson Mohawke. Someone commented on this new wave of art rap - young cats that are growing up admiring runway couturiers and avant-gardists instead of Too Black Guys and graffiti writers. Made me lol. Either way, I'm pumped for HudMo to be looked up to like this, it's been time in the making. Enjoy.
After dropping a video trailer recently, he's now dropped a rap remixes EP for the said record.
Available now is the ADHD Deep Thinkers Remixes EP which will feature the beats from the ADHD, which MCs blessing the tracks with strophes.
Appearing on a compilation curated by Electronic Explorations is this phenomenal track from the NYer. Luster which plays out in a 3/4 cadence, breaks out the block, reaching full speed within 4-5 strides with frenetic drums, soft samples and synth stabs, cresting slowly towards a coda. Such a delight to play and listen to. You can stream it here and download it exclusively from the good ppl at LWE.
Here's how the evening came together, as ONRA took it Deep In The Night, banging away on this 2 MPC set up.
Shouts to YYZBRA for the edit, and of course, shouts to ONRA for a wonderful night.
