Hope to have some news... soon!

Slapparatus- New DIbiase Mix for Monday Jazz [DWNLD]

Slapparatus. You know what time it is. Say wrd. Our man Dibia$e is at it again with the slaps. No better way to describe it really.
2010 was a great year for SoCal native Dibia$e and he had some stellar releases and remixes to prove it. 2011 is shaping up to be similar. Certain remixes are in the chamber and some other news is about to drop too... i'm sworn to secrecy though.
But all the whilst, he's still putting out material for all to rock to as he takes his Slapparatus brand of bangers to the ppl, the working ppl. And what better way to introduce a new and rare mix from Dibia$e by way of the good ppl at Monday Jazz.

Dibia$e || Slapparatus Mix for Monday Jazz || download [via Monday Jazz]

And, just a heads up as the festival season is coming upon us. Look for tour dates from Dibia$e real soon. In the meantime, enjoy!

New Take Video: Begin End Begin [VIDEO] [DWNLD]

As we approach the Feb 22nd release date of Take's Only Mountain Remixes, we're finally able to share a brand new video from Take and Alpha Pup: a cinematic magnum opus.
In a conversation I recently had w/ Take, he expressed his excitement @ the project. Beyond the actual shared vision he and director Anthony Ciannamea had (esp after the director fortuitously picked his remix to bring to life as a video), Take was involved in all aspect of the sound design through the 7 some mins of this mini motion picture which was shot in Chicago.

And to add to it, pls enjoy the track in it's full fidelity.

Jacque Polynice (mike slott remix) [DWNLD]

In a tweet that surfaced last week, Lucky Me's Mike Slott made mention of a remix he had done some time back for Jacque Polynice that has finally surface on Circuitree Records: Skidda b/w Obama's O (Mike Slott remix)

Mike keeps it well and smooth as always. Love coming across new product, and certainly new acts. The single is available now on their bandcamp site. [vroooom]

In a pretty surprise, I noticed that the Mike Slott remix is available as a free download courtesy of XLR8R. You can grab that here.

Illum Sphere: The Day After Valentine's Day [DWNLD]

I keep telling girls... Everyday is Valentine's. ;) Seriously. I get it though. It's always nice to have that one night where you know you're getting spoiled, showered with admiration, accolades and... well, have fun. But what stop on Valentine's??
Enter Manchester's monarch, head of Hoya Hoya Illum Sphere.
Do you need slow jams?? I know I don't, though you would not have known from Monday. I used to have ladies over and play some Bobby Digital. Some days, Cinematic Orchestra.
But Illum Sphere sets it straight with his Day After Valentine's Day mix, for all to take in.

In any case enjoy, from Manchester to you and yours.

Ilya Santana: Transborder (Letherette remix)

Something I've been sitting on for a few, is a Ilya Santana remix by the awesome twosome Letherette.

Ilya Santana originates from the Canary Islands (Spain). Discovered his passion for music 20 some years ago whilst watching his dad passionately listening to his fave LPs: Alan Parson, Vangelis and Giorgio Moroder amongst others. That eventually led to DJ'ing around all the clubs in Gran Canaria. Not long after that he started producing his own material. His first release was on Balihu, Daniel Wang's label. In the meantime he also released records on Tirk, Permanent Vacation and Gomma, and remixed artists like Human League, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Lindstrom.

Available now on Eskimo Recordings is 3 track Transborder EP featuring a remix from Letherette.

mymanhenri presents: Candlelight [DWNLD]

Nuts. A few years back, I was planning a Valentine's day mix but never really got around to it. It was going to be instrumental based, beat science through out. There are some smooth bangers out there... but after listening to HudMo's mix, made me think of University and the nights had during those years. The years @ house parties when they USED to play slow songs (wtf happened??), @ dances etc... If you're a little older, you know the drill. So with that, on this Feb 14th 2011 Valentine's day, I present the slow songs of my tender youth aka Candlelight. The soundtrack to tonight's festivities.

Rucyl's Uma Kanya by Saturn Never Sleeps

The good ppl @ Saturn Never Sleeps have a new release from Rucyl.

Uma Kanya, Sanskrit for “Virgin of Light”, was originally intended as a soundtrack for yoga practice and morphed into an ambient soundscape – at times meditative and serene, at times aggressively haunting. Fittingly named, Uma is also the material manifestation of energy, wife of Shiva, and an expression of the duality of light and dark within women.
All proceeds will be donated to Women for Women International to help women in war-torn regions rebuild their lives and communities [via SNS]

RBMA Tour 2011: Destination Tokyo

It's time.

Was that the quote from Training Day?? My memory might be failing me again. But regardless, here-we-go.
Some of you across Canada might recall what was an absolutely landmark tour in 2009. RBMA presented a tour featuring Flying Lotus and myself, criss crossing across this vast country of ours to get ppl to know and learn about the Red Bull Music Academy. Well, it worked. A record # of Canadians applied and we were able to have 4 brilliant participants rep in London 2010.

As some of you now know, the next Red Bull Music Academy is taking place in the land of the rising sun: JAPAN. So now, in 2011, we are embarking on the same journey, same goals but a new crew: Destination TOKYO will feature 4 of the brightest stars in Canada:

Ango (RBMA 2010)

Lunice (RBMA 2010)

Prison Garde

Jacques Greene

As well as NAUTILUSS on select dates. Check back for more deets.

Of course, we will be having Academy lectures before every event so we can talk all things RBMA and essentially prepare you for the application process. So if the RBMA is something that sounds like it's for you, you need to come to the lecture. They'll provide all the information you'll need to apply and you'll be able to address any questions you may have then.
Of course, each lecture will climax with the soirée and will feature the four afore mentioned. You need to be there.

The Canadian dates are as follows:

Thursday, February 17 – Winnipeg, MB - Ozzy's
Friday, February 18 – Golden, BC - The RockWater
Sunday, February 20 – Fernie, BC - Bulldog's
Tuesday, February 22 - Banff, Alberta - HooDoo
Wednesday, February 23 - Calgary, Alberta - HiFi
Thursday, February 24 - Edmonton, Alberta - The Common
Friday, February 25 – Saskatoon, SK - Scratch Club

Saturday, March 5 - Ottawa, ON - Ritual Nightclub
Sunday, March 6 - Toronto, ON - WrongBar

Take: Only Mountains Remixes

After much consideration and contemplation, the final cut was made. Much as a coach will need to trim his roster down to the final few - Take was faced w/ the same dilemma. After engaging producers to submit a remix in a contest that RBMA grad The Clonious won, he then selected another 15 remix submissions to round out his Only Mountains Remixes record. This was originally going to be a double CD but he decided otherwise. So we are pleased to finally have the final version, ready for all to enjoy.

Take, having been a pioneer and @ the inception of this beat science, was able to requests reinterpretations from the who's who of this scene we follow and ultimately put together a brilliant record w/ styles as varied as the California relief.

Track listing is as follows:

1. Begin End Begin (Take Remix)
2. Quartz For Amber (Mono/Poly Remix)
3. Don't Look Now (Alex B Remix)
4. Horizontal Figuration (Tokimonsta Remix)
5. Incredibright (Anenon Remix)
6. Paper Garden (Griffi Remix feat. Aqeel)
7. Neon Beams (Dibiase Remix)
8. If We Don't All Go Insane (Mux Mool Remix)
9. Before You Think (Free The Robots Remix)
10. Implosions (Shigeto Remix)
11. Neon Beams (The Clonious Remix)
12. Quartz For Amber (Leonard Dstroy Remix feat. Reggie B)
13. Paper Garden (Low Limit Remix)
14. Neon Beams (Eliot Lipp Remix)
15. Juniper (Om Unit Remix)
16. Begin End Begin (Falty DL Remix)

This reads like the roster of an all star team, and best believe they deliver scintillating results on this one. W/o getting into endless, I'll simply tell you this one's a must cop. From the Mono/Poly's aggressive melodies, to Mux Mool's relaxed rendition, Leonard Dstroy's rework w/ Reggie B and Low Limit's lush Paper Garden remix, there's something for all to take in and savor.
