Pixelord Gets Freakier: Lucid Freak pt 2 - The Remixes [DWNLD]

On the heels of a stunning EP, Pixelord quells all rumors about his rmxs project. It's here.



Dropping no less than 11 reworks of his Lucid Freak EP, this russian minstrel of midi enlisted a band of bass heavies and beat freaks from all about to get in on this aur-gy. LOL.
With riddims varying from classic 4 on the floor to some dubstep bizness, Lucid Freaks pt. 2 - The Remixes features a few of Russia's hottest producers, including RBMA-participant DZA, Demokracy, OL and Miracle Libido (the latter two as known from Monday Jazz). Rouding off this multinational experiment are AshTreJinkins and Chocolate Girl, Netherland's Jameszoo and Coco Bryce and Austria-based producer Abby Lee Tee. Pixelord himself even gets in on the action. Artwork has come once again from Michael Dotson.

This drops tomorrow Feb 26 2010 on Error-Broadcast so be sure to clear some bandwidth.

Take & Matthew David: All City Records Double Feature [DWNLD]

After an explosive launch to their LA series w/ P.U.D.G.E. and DIBIA$E, All City Records is back with the 2nd installment. The next digi directors to shoot the lavish musical landscape that it Los Angeles are Take and Matthew David.



Resurfacing from a self imposed quarantine, Take reemerges w/ 3 tracks to signal what is likely to be a busy year for him starting w/ this All City 10x10 and w/ more releases due on Alpha Pup, Circulations as well as Eat Concrete. In true professional artistic form, Take provides proof again that singular, and phenomenal, cannot be written w/o L or an A. Filling the flip side admirably, is Dublab's own Matthew David. For anyone unfamiliar with Matthew David's recondite rhythms, they're ones that I admire greatly as he's always provided a groove to swing to, ambient or not. Ask Devonwho about that one.

New Flying Lotus: Track from COSMOGRAMMA

Steve (nom de plume, Flying Lotus) and I had a conversation last November on where he was taking this genre (which for the better part will be officially listed under electronic) and the sky was the limit really. For all the listeners of the music, the readers of the blogs/periodicals, we still have a ton of ppl who have not heard or been exposed to the sound. He's coming for you this year (as I am too. LOL).
As I sat there listening to his album (pre master) in the hills of LA, this rush came over me, and I was thinking: boom it's happening. I've had the op to see him live quite a few times (last year's RBMA tour, and some dates in between including WARP20 NYC, my fave).
He's got a bunch of dates coming up and you need to be there if he's hitting your town. You can check the dates w/ Pitchfork.
But in the meantime, some new Flying Lotus.

Staying busy is the name of the game. Without a doubt. On the heels of an outstanding 2009 year where he saw his star rise meteorically, PDX native and now LAX dweller, Devonwho has stayed engaged and absorbed honing is craft. And deservedly so, they accolades have been pouring in internationally. From London's most famous Fabric hollering about a gig to panoply of projects from EU imprints, let alone the massive co-sign he received from Dam-Funk who's an ardent supporter.
2010 now starts off w/ Thumbtracks Remixes v1. A Jambalaya of joints from his original and critically acclaimed Fundraiser v1: Thumbtracks LP, all remixed by friends old and new.



From east to west, Sendai to LAX, he's invited some friends to essentially contribute their renditions of his tracks. Along for the ride are the usual suspects like mndsgn, dibia$e, P.U.D.G.E., Teebs, the homie Hi Res, Alex B. Mark Pritchard In DEEP MEDI-tation: New 12"

Don't get me started. Mark Pritchard aka Harmonic 313 had an incredible 2009. An amazing full length, can countless smashing 12", all the while constatntly working on new music, including the highly anticipated Africa Hitech for 2010 on Warp. One of my faves of 2009. Period.
But the true musician that he his, he could not start the year w/o something fresh for the mandem. In preparation for a curation I have this week, I stumbled on the masters for his Deep Medi release which is out, well now.
Staying electronic, Mark gasses the pedal and takes it up to the 140 range, though not in a dubstep way.
Leave it up to Pritchard to nice up the dance. Crystal clear highs w/ rattling and humming lows, topped with a bewitching warble all adds up to an epic 8 some minute ballad.

FamLay, All Day: eLan Spreads The Love [DWNLD]

I still recall hearing this joint from this eLan cat, and it came from this EP called Magnificent Mistakes. He had some bangers! In fact I kept it in steady rotation for a hot minute.
I was recently reminded by no less than three cats that he had a new one out. WRD.



famLay is a set of 10 sophomore selections featuring, well, fam. With collabs on all but one track, he put together a LP with an ensemble of cats he chops is up with (literally) on the reg. With ppl like infinte potential, messi, F.V., marzio along with Klipm0dians mndsgn & devonwho, he gathered a great cast of conductors to assists in this composition.
So when this LA born, now San Diego taxpayer is not chopping stuff up between his MPC and SP404, he's building w/ crew Indigo Pyramid and Wedidit Collective as well as working w/ his melo marzio on more music.
He still plans to have an official solo EP release soon. But in the interim, pls proceed...
