Matthewdavid Goodness: Trusss [DWNLD]

Surely I can't be the only one looking fwd to Dublab's very own Matthewdavid and his goodness?? I was lucky enough to catch dude rawk it @ Low End the last time I was in LA. then I was incessantly listening to his Devonwho remix

Anyhow, I've been sitting on this for a min, but I can't wait to hear more of that atmospheric goodness. Your girl might even like it...

For anyone who knows P.U.D.G.E., Enjoy. If not, Hanging With The Homeboys is a mix that will show you someone who I still believe is one of the most underrated cats around. Regardless, enjoy.

Loops Haunt New Mix Series: Strange Friut v1 [DNWLD]

In January of this yr, I asked a few of my friends to gimme their 5 to follow in 2010. The name Loops Haunt came up. Looked around and then went out and picked up both the Impact Omnihammer and Rubber Sun Grenade EP. Say Wrd.

Not so familiar?? All good. He's decided to start a mix series allowing you to peer into his musical tastes and programming. Allow me to direct you to his new mix (in full 320 might I add):

Shlohmo: Camping EP

I was telling my boy a few days back - I love when the tempo is so slow that ppl have to listen instead of dance. There should be more of it happening. Ha.
Bay area wunderkid Shlohmo returns w/ a heavy, plodding and almost sedate sophomore release: Camping EP.

Heads will nod, clouds of smoke will be blown to this new Shlohmo Camping EP which features 4 new joints as well as 3 rmxs including one from Ghostly's Shigeto. But more interesting is the slow, almost unhurried nature of the record, almost allowing you to digest it completely, extracting all it's parts from start to finish. I'm with it.

Camping EP was released just over 1 week ago and is def avail online, and may have some physical units on hand - though to confirmed.

Alex Nut & Ho_Tep present Throwing Snow: Un Vingt/Cronos

It's not enough that Rinse FM's Alex Nut has a show, is part of Eglo Records, and consistenly kills us w/ exclusives, but he's now found time for more work (are there more than 24hrs in a day now?)
With the few hours left in his day, that most of us would use to sleep, Alex Nut has started a new label Ho_Tep and is celebrating it's inception w/ his 1st release: Throwing Snow.

Né Ross Stones, Throwing Snow defines what I love about this emerging scene, the amalgam of inspirations and genres: Samples, electronic textures, colorful synths and varying tempos all have part in this beat bouillabaisse.

Throwing Snow || Cronos

Looks like the vinyl has arrived from manufacturing as per a tweet this morning. Awesome. Look for this release to be in stores Mid July, in your finer boutiques.

Eglo Records Presents: Arp 101

Alex Nut used to tease use w/ this track during his show on Saturdays. No track name, no artist name, until now.

Arp 101 was the name, Warriors Galactic was the track. Wow.
This is due out in shops in late July as i've been told. Look for this to be shot into immediate rotation.

Africa HiTech: Hitecherous

I knew this day was coming, simply didn't know when. A few of you may have had the pleasure of hearing me play some of this newness out, esp Lash Out, but this is officially going to see light of day.
Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek are Africa Hitech, and they are releasing the long awaited EP: Hitecherous.

I've said it before, and I said it again: This is big man bizness. 2020 riddim bizness. Black, caribbean and electronic [wheeeel]. I can go on and on about it... but i'll just let you take it in + the artwork is just brilliant as always. Big up Warp on this one.

Like the tweet said, look for it in shops very soon, your finer boutiques as always. Big.

One my faves: Om Unit putting out down for Hoya Hoya fam in money making Manchester.

Dilla x Stones Throw x Serato: Control VInyl Ships Today + Exclusives [DWNLD]

You know this was in the works. Serato control vinyl is the new New Era cap: collabo's left and right. But ST did one already, but this one will be the cat's meow.

The Donut Shop is the result of the 3 way collaboration between Serato, Stones Throw and the J Dilla Foundation. Outside of being control vinyl for the Serato users, The featured J Dilla tracks will consist of three previously unreleased instrumentals selected by J.Rocc from the Dilla archives – “Safety Dance”, “Sycamore”, “Bars & Twists” – and three unreleased instrumental versions of Dilla's production for Mos Def, Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes, each remastered by Elysian Masters who mixed and mastered J Dilla's Donuts, The Shining and Ruff Draft albums. I don't even use control vinyl (play internal), but I'm scooping these.

Say wrd.

If you were lucky enough to scoop this, keep your eye open for the mail man. If you didn't , keep your eye open for the mail man going to your neighbor's place. LOL.

Ubeat Releases Maverick Session Two

Long ago, before the quasar that is future beats sucked many of us into it's black hole, Jay Scarlett and Onur Engin were busy curating shows that featured much of this now heralded music. From the Ampsoul Generation radio show, to various comps, they both led the way and were instrumental in many careers. Add me to that.
So after releasing Maverick Sessions One, a comp which introduced us to a new crop of up and comers, the follow up is now here:
Maverick Sessions Two

Once again, Jay & Onur release a remarkable compilation through the Ubeat Records imprint, demonstrating their firm grasp and respect as torchbearers and premiere tastemakers in this musical space that is future beats/instrumentalists.

Featured on this comp are names that the erudite of the scene will recognize, but even some are new to the landscape.

Vloop & Kenlo - Svelte Beat (Original Mix)
Elan - Fresh Lava (Original Mix)
Kan Sano - Rec Gain Up (Original Mix)
Stevo - Pad Pusher (Original Mix)

Onra - Lying Besides You (Original Mix)
Sauce 81 - Tbs (Original Mix)
Mau'lin - Deadcab (Original Mix)
Devonwho - Clementine (Original Mix)
Yosi Horikawa - Cook From South (Original Mix)

A stellar comp that's available online now, and may have physical units available soon, to be confirmed.

Gold Panda: You EP [DWNLD]

I came across UK's Gold Panda a few months back after popping a mix from my man Raj over @ Bleep, and heard this track called Fifth Ave off his the Quitter's Raga EP. I went and bought it immediately.
I was then glad to hear a Ghostly International announcement they were releasing his following work, the You EP.

Hip hop, electronic textures, varying tempos, chopped up vocal samples... the type of instrumental experimentation I dig.
You EP is more a glorified 12" featuring the title track, with 2 b-sides and several You rmxs. The digital EP will feature an additional bonus joint called Killing Yourself On A Beach. The official track list looks as follows:

1. You

2. Peaky Caps
3. You (Seams Remix) || download (right click)

4. You (Osborne Remix)
5. You (Minotaur Shock Remix) [Digital Bonus]
6. You (Dam Mantle Remix) [Digital Bonus]
7. Killing Yourself On A Beach [Digital Bonus]

Gold Panda's You EP was released this past week and should be in your finer music boutiques.
And for the folk in Toronto he's here for NXNE and will be playing Tonight, June 17th @ 10p @ Sneaky Dee's. I'll be there.

Free Hudson Mohawke Track for Sonar [DWNLD]

Ahh Sonar. Sadly i'll be missing it this year. Had a blast last year w/ Mike Slott, Mamiko, Dom Sum, Radna and the homie Hudson Mohawke. Speaking of, there's a free track courtesy of Bleep and Sonar as they come together to promote this spectacular Spanish festival.

You can go scoop that track here. But be quick! It'll be down June 21st.

Oh My Goodness: Madlib And Flying Lotus?

As per a tweet yesterday...

Get ready.

Darkhouse Family: Family Trees EP

Man.... I was buzzing about this when Producer #2 dropped, (which is still one of best LPs out this year), and had snooped around about this only find out I was 1/2 familiar with this outfit.
Darkhouse Family is a Don Leisure and Metabeats projects, both hailing from Cardiff & Barry respectively. Together, they have release the mini masterpiece that is The Family Trees EP, as part of their Producer #2 series.

Heavy synths, heavy beats, lovely melodies. Nothing re-invented, simply well arranged. F*ck it. This is kinda sick. And to boot, they commissioned some work from fellow label mate, and superhuman sample flipper Dibia$e on a refix. Say wrd.

Darkhouse Family || Stay Blazed

Darkhouse Family || Mein Atari (Mr Dibia$e Lofi Flip)

The Family Trees EP is out now.

Ableton Workshop w/ Take: June 10th

Hace mucho tiempo as they like to say... back from Detroit, fully energized with a sunburn (wrap up coming tomorrow I hope).
More the an anything, I'm proud to announce the 1st of several workshops that we will be hosting this yr.
Allow me to present the 1st one:

On June 10th, we will be hosting an Ableton Live work shop featuring LA's Take, in association w/ MOOG Audio as well as Ableton (of course). Take, who has long been messing with gear and long before the digital made it's blitzkrieg to beats/production, will walk us through his personal workflow, showing us how he was able to assemble his incredible record, Only Mountain, which was done entirely in Ableton.
But whether you mess w/ beats, hip hop, dubstep, experimental - or anything in between all of that, this is workshop will be for you.

The ABLETON LIVE workshop ft TAKE (LA, Alpha Pup, Dublab)
Thursday June 10th 2010
The Drake Underground - 1150 Queen St West
You can rsvp on the FB event page here.

And don't forget the same night, we're rawking live w/ Take, Ultragamma + mymanhenri. See you then.
